Sticks to the basics and is all the better for it.

Great things come out of Sweden, not just ABBA and this album is one of them. Founded by ex-Prime Sth drummer Kasper Lindgren and featuring the vocal talents of Tobias Gustavsson, Straight Frank is perhaps the Swedish answer to Audioslave.

Opener ‘Monster’ is just that, a monster of a song complete with a hook to die for. Audioslave comparisons are most prominent on the grooved up ‘Not Forever’, ‘Going Nowhere’ and the warped ‘Misery’ where Gustavsson shows off his soaring vocal prowess. The whole album is an abject lesson in how to write and perform rock music without massively overproducing it. This album sticks to the basics and is all the better for it.
