Constantly entertaining in a straightforward and fun way.
London band Bexatron understand the power of image having built themselves around lead singer and traditional blonde-bombshell Bexx. Although they make subtle references to Blondie in their promotion, you shouldn't go into this expecting anything remotely similar, but that doesn't mean that Bexatron aren't worth your time because they certainly are.
Described as "hi-octane Punk with a Glam coat", Bexatron deliver hard-hitting Pop with plenty of attitude, guitars and fuzz where needed. The aforementioned Bexx can thankfully carry a tune very well, and I was glad she's more than just a pretty centrepiece for the band. The promotional track 'Dirty Disco', which you can find on YouTube, sums them up pretty well with its powerful, in-your-face beat and melody that are underlined by a decent Pop sensibility and a riff that's not afraid to borrow from The Rolling Stones. It's certainly representative of the album as a whole because Bexatron don't let up for the ten-track duration, managing to be constantly entertaining in a straightforward and fun way.
All I could think of as I listened to the album for the third time was that I'd love to see them live. The tracks are all mid to fast in terms of pace, apart from 'Love And Distortion' which is a slow burning Sleaze gem that not only works very well but is also nicely placed in the running order just before the final track 'Hex My Ex'.
I enjoyed this way more than I expected to, and that is purely down to well written and played songs that are all catchy and fun. Even though they are mostly of the three-and-a-half minute variety, there's still time for some excellent guitar which separates Bexatron from many of the other three-minute heroes, thus giving them that little extra dimension. If you like a little Glam-infused Pop/Punk yourself, that is also stripped-back and honest as well, this will totally float your boat.
For lovers of everything from Hole to Paramore, Bexatron are finally unleashed on the world.
