Mitch Malloy Firefest & New Solo Album Update

Mitch Malloy’s Firefest backing band from Italy consists of Mario Percudani from Hungryheart on guitars/backing vox,Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge of Forever) on keyboards/backing vox, Anna Portalupi (bass) and Alessandro Mori (Drums).

Mitch is currently hard at work on his new solo album, which will be on sale in time for Firefest and sees Mitch hoping to outdo his glorious debut in the melodic rock stakes. Having already written songs with Danger Danger’s Bruno Ravel and Harem Scarem’s Pete Lesperence, Mitch is having a blast writing for this new album.

“I just care about making a great record and having fun doing it and so far it's a blast just writing the songs,he told Fireworks Editor Bruce Mee. This is the best time I've ever had writing songs. The songs are flying out of me. I can sit down and say okay, this morning I'm going to write a song and 1 or 2 hours later I have a new song that I really like. I guess that's when you know you're doing what you're meant to be doing. It comes easy. It's so easy right now it's amazing. Part of that is also attributed to the fact that I've been writing songs my whole life I suppose, but having said that obviously it's not always this easy. I think this CD will be more 80s than my first one. I hated the 80s back then so on my first CD I was trying to make a 70s record. Now I like the 80s, and this music sounds and feels fresh to me.  I start recording May 2nd. I have 16 songs finished and I will have at least 2 more done by then, and then I will narrow it down to the best 12. I'm thinking of calling it "Mitch Malloy II" because I feel right now that it truly is the follow up to the fist album, although you will hear some new "from me" things that I haven't done. Which is what I was saying about the 80's, I'm not reinventing the wheel here folks, I'm just doing what sounds fun and good to me right now, and that's really all I can do. But so far I'm loving the way the songs sound and can hear the production in my head and I think fans of this music are going to LOVE it. In fact now that I really know who my fans are I've written stuff just for them. I've never done that before. That was really fun.  And I have some legends lined up to play, schedules permitting of course. Should be a really cool CD.  Looking to have it done first of Sept. I'll be in touch along the way with updates and maybe even some video snippets.”
