An enjoyable concert, but only for completists.
Being a huge fan of Pat Travers, I was amazed that I had missed this release on video when it came out the first time around in 1991, but to be fair, it wasn't my favourite line-up, which probably explains it. The band, consisting of Travers, guitarist Jerry Riggs, Mars Cowling on bass and drummer Scott Zymowski are very tight on the songs which were relatively new at the time ('Daddy Long Legs', 'Help Me', etc.) but the real test is on the classics like 'Born Under A Bad Sign', 'Stevie' and, something of an anthem for fans - 'Snortin' Whiskey'.
I was a little disappointed initially when I read the track listing as there are some glaring omissions to this set. There are also no credits whatsoever on the sleeve notes – no thought for either the reviewer or drum junkie (of which I am both), considering Mr Zymowski was not an enduring member of the band. I imagine one of the reasons for the setlist choice is the Jerry Riggs-era as they went far more in the rock direction and away from the blues-rock Travers is so well known for.
I was also disappointed at the lack of bonus material on this DVD. Basically, it's just a re-release, NOT a remaster, it was released in 2005 for the first time on DVD, so to be honest I don't see the point of rereleasing it at all. Don't get me wrong, the show is great, the playing is great and, even though it looks really dated and perhaps the camera operators could have been better trained, overall it's an enjoyable concert, I just think that this is probably one for completists, rather than new fans. And never EVER take fashion advice from whoever supplied their outfits!
