A very solid release.

Arabia return on June 6th with their all new album 'Welcome To The Freakshow' released through Z Records. After so many rumours emanating from sources claiming to be in the know, we can finally say that Arabia are back and following the debut release '1001 Nights', which made such an impact. Founding member and band leader John Blaze is still here and alive and well in New York City. The line-up had changed several times as nothing really clicked into place for John, and as he stated recently, the recording became a freakshow of events, but ultimately he found a groove with great guys who shared his musical tastes. In writing the record it's apparent that John Blaze went through many phases similar to my own life, with a general realisation of what is important and reflecting on how he got to where he was, as well as never forgetting to keep things fun. As we all know, rock n roll is meant to be an escape and a release from the day to day madness of our normal lives.

This is plain to see with the great in your face track 'Come Let The Music Move You…' with its great chorus and guitar work. A personal favourite of mine on the album is 'No Place Like Home', which is a great moving track that's talks about where your heart really belongs. The album really covers all social and religious aspects, for example, on the excellent 'Last Temptation', which talks about Jesus, and the unforgettable 'Blood Runs Blind', which is a realisation about the Aids crisis and knowing someone who was infected with this tragic disease. Beside these serious social and religious based tracks we also get some real party songs like 'Drive', which is about knowing a girl who just wants to get away, hit the road with her and just have loads of fun. All in all a very solid release, and for me 'Welcome To The Freakshow' is a real worthy successor to '1001 Nights', and one which will really appeal to all fans of quality hook laden hard rock. But that's not the end of it, the band are also set to finish album number three for Z Records later this year for a 2012 release too.
