A very, very good album indeed.

German melodic rock band Human Zoo are back with their third album 'Eyes Of A Stranger', and if you like your rock with great melodies and a generous dose of saxophone then you should look no further than this album. With album number three the band have toned down the heavier elements that they used on their last album 'Over The Horizon', and have gone back to the more AOR friendly sound they had on their debut release. This though is no backward step, as the songs are easily their best to date, with some really memorable choruses and great playing, that all goes together to show a band that is full of confidence and bravado. Also at this time I have to mention the production which again helps the band. It is big, bold and has a warm, rich resonant feel that gels with the songs, to bring out the best in each of them, and it is an integral part of the classy Human Zoo sound.

The album begins after a short intro where a little girl's voice tells her Mother that there is a stranger at their front door, the band then kick things off proper with the rocking 'The Answer' which reminded me a lot of Bad Habit mixed with Shakra and a lighter Brother Firetribe (which is no bad thing) and it is obvious right from the start that Human Zoo mean business. 'World Behind You', 'Eyes Of A Stranger'; where we find out what happens to the little girl from the start of the album, and 'Fall In love' are again all hard rockin' fuel filled cuts which are made that little bit different because of the saxophone solos that are used during the songs. On the slower numbers like 'Everything Changes' and 'Fall In Love' the band once again show that they can hold their own with any melodic rock band doing the rounds at the moment. The harmonies are sharp, the musicianship tight, and as I said earlier, the production strong, which is just about all you need to make a great song in my view. My own personal favourites are left until the end of the album, 'Want It - Love It - Like It' and '10,000 Years' are both fast paced cuts with some superb lead guitar work courtesy of Ingolf Engler, and are a wonderful way to end a really great melodic rock album.

If you have liked any of their work in the past or just want to hear some great rock music, then let me tell you that Human Zoo have knocked both of their earlier albums into a cocked hat with this release, and 'Eyes Of The Stranger' would grace many/any melodic rock fans' record collection. A very, very good album indeed.
