A seldom-encountered blend of substance and style that's virtually impossible to pick fault with.

So authentically Sunset Strip is 'Bring Me Home' that it's somewhat difficult to believe that the brains behind this gloriously sleazy operation hail from Germany. Following a recent pilgrimage to the notorious LA quarter, Raygun Rebels have since more than proved their mettle, dazzling newly-converted fans at the legendary likes of The Viper Room.

Although unmistakably slick with choice cuts of Kiss and Hanoi Rocks, 'Bring Me Home' is no simple slab of hero worship, boasting both ultra-modern production and complex writing tactics. From stripped-back sleaze to epic-length tracks that reek of greatness, this catchy outing shows variation in structure and sound alike. By far the band's most crowd-pleasing offering, 'I Want You' follows an uncomplicated course of skirt-chasing stereotypes and grinding riffs readymade for the arena. As an instantly listenable affair, its vocal hooks and sing-along choruses veer inevitably toward repetitiveness, but an artfully-placed midsection luckily rescues the track from the brink of boredom. On the utter flip side, self-titled standout 'Bring Me Home' is a finely-crafted slow-burner that pays poetic tribute to the band's beloved LA rock scene. Indulging the listener in a generous measure of breezy, skyscraper-high solos and blistering bass, '...Home' toys intelligently with a varied repertoire of riffing styles.

While Raygun Rebels' sound may be rich in late seventies nostalgia, 'Financial Distress Blues' reveals a sharp, politically aware dimension backed by acidic riffs that screech and snarl toward an explosive climax. Dealing in equally superior vocal talents, the tight-knit foursome deliver an energetic blend of gang vocals and crisp, radio-friendly harmonies. And although charismatic frontman Danny Raygun leads with unmistakable star quality, impeccable band chemistry remains the linchpin at the heart of this lean, hard-rocking machine. 

With intelligence and swaggering attitude in spades, 'Bring Me Home' offers up a seldom-encountered blend of substance and style that's virtually impossible to pick fault with.

  • SeaDog57 : just an observation. I just got Issue 89 at the Bookstore and when i looked at the spine of the magazine it says "Fireworks Issue 85 Winter Jan - Mar 2019" Was this a misprint? The rest of the Magazine is Issue 89. Was just wondering did anyone else notice this?
