Unlocked Box Issue 1 - The Mentalist

Moving away from science-fiction, fantasy and horror and into the detective genre, was anybody else frustrated with the climax to first season of THE MENTALIST? We were led to believe that Patrick Jane, aka The Mentalist, (well, a private consultant for the fictional California Bureau of Investigation) would finally capture the notorious serial killer Red John who was responsible for the murders of Jane’s wife and daughter.

The first series made compulsive viewing. Why are a lot of American TV shows of this type basically modern remakes of Sherlock Holmes? There is also Monk, House, Life and Criminal Intent. The Mentalist is good mostly light-hearted fun though in a completely different realm from the gritty, realistic likes of The Wire.
