I have no hesitation in recommending a purchase.

Daylight Robbery is a Birmingham-based rock band comprising Tony Nicholl (vocals), Mark Carleton (guitars), Murdoch (bass), Ben Dixon (drums) and Duncan Cook (keyboards). The band is new but these players are experienced and have paid their dues in the rock world. Noting the claim that Daylight Robbery are "The New Kings of Heavy Melodic Rock", this magazine is clearly their target demographic. This vision is already starting to take shape and following radio airplay they are poised to support Uriah Heap on their upcoming tour.

The eye-catching album artwork shows this is a band that cares about image and harks back to the age when album covers were a big deal. The sound of the band is classic 80´s rock; think Tyketto, Journey, Slaughter etc. The album starts with 'Cross Your Heart', an anthem of monumental proportions with a truly great chorus. Moving on to 'Shame On You' again with a great chorus interlaced with a repeating Schenker style riff and vocals which hit very high notes. 'Perfect Storm' then kicks off with a classic palm-muted pedal riff and develops into a more epic song; less frenetic but building to a superb harmonised guitar solo and a fitting organ solo. 'Crossing The Great Divide' builds up slowly with ever-present piano like the classic UFO songs when Paul Raymond added his magic. The rousing 'Real Love Is The Answer' and the powerful 'Reunite' ensure the album keeps going through the back half of the album. It is no surprise that the final track 'Line Of Fire' is strong and interestingly reminded me of a supercharged Magnum due to its emphatic chorus.

In all these songs, Tony Nicholl gives an astonishing performance, singing every song as if his life depends on it; in fact all of the band's members are giving their all. Not really a criticism because it could also be a compliment, this album includes every trick in the rock book -- false ends, phased-in drum intros and every metal guitar technique from 6-string sweeping to two handed tapping.

This album has a great arsenal of tracks that will work well live and ensure Daylight Robbery will be a fantastic support act and well worth the full ticket price alone. With the band in gear, their debut album out and their distinctive artwork creating a brand, they are in a good position to go far. I have no hesitation in recommending a purchase!
