This is Fair of Freaks, one of the biggest events of the season.

"Roll up, Roll Up! See the most amazing sights you have ever encountered! You will tremble. You will gasp. You will soil your boxers. See the dog-faced boy; destined to spend his life being wormed. See the amazing Strong-O, powerful enough to carry Piers Morgan's ego. And marvel at the eight-legged guitar-toting, bass-battering brothers, locking into a groove for your delectation and delight!"

That's what a modern Fair Of Freaks might look like. These four Scandinavian scamps would be the main event. Quite rightly. They do something surprising here. They construct an album for your pleasure, taking account of your moods, wants and desires. How many other bands take you in their arms and show you a good time all night? You'll need one hand. To count with, to count with! Bloody hell.

Financed themselves in a no doubt blood/sweat/tears-type interface, this is clean and direct but pretty gorgeous. Starting with the angular attack of ‘Changes', all circular riffs, angular attack and harmonious backing vox, we're presented with a song as thin as a supermodel; ‘Different Situations' is extremely exciting around the verse but just paddles around the chorus, pushing us back to a verse which shows us some amazing pictures of the girlfriend then gets a tattoo with us; then we're French kissed by the boa-bedecked sleaze of ‘Now You're Gone', chewing bubble gum in the verse, inviting mates around for a perfectly-modulated backing singalong and then waving at you from a soaring solo as high as Eamonn Holmes' self regard.

But that's not all.

‘Other Ways' is a gentle acoustic piece with heartfelt rough-hewn vocals by Sean Sanders which calms the mood and acts as a sorbet for the audacious ‘Holy Disguise' which shoehorns in a bass solo, a sassy cowbell and a US rocking vocal on the first few minutes and then takes the breath away by slowing to a waltz - yes, that's right - before driving us back to our door and throwing us out onto the tarmac. And then it all closes out with the quality and avowedly New Age, nervous energy of ‘Winterbound', which has the knack of opening the blinds to bathe us in a sunny chorus which demands factor 15.

There are lots of musical comparisons they would like you to make, but that is meaningless. This is Fair of Freaks, one of the biggest events of the season. Get a ticket before they move on.
