Definitely worth checking out.

There is much to commend this album, not least the fact an Italian band can sound more Hollywood Sleaze than even some genuine Hollywood Sleaze bands. Formed in Milan in 2007 this is their debut full length. Produced by the band themselves and recorded in Monza, home of the Italian Grand Prix, no doubt adding extra fuel to their particular brand of firecracking Rock ‘n’ Roll! What is a coup for them though is getting the redoubtable Dennis Ward (he of Pink Cream 69 fame and producer, mixer and masterer of just about anyone who’s anyone in Melodic Rock circles) to mix and master it at his home studio in Germany. As a result there is a crisp, punchy loud resonance coming from the speakers and clear separation of the instrumentation that goes a long way to making an album an enjoyable listen, particularly on headphones.

What I like about them is when they announced their tour supporting ‘THE GOD’ (as they put it) Eric Martin on his solo acoustic tour they said that if you didn’t know who he was then you can just set yourself on fire. And drummer Fabio in his thank you notes praised the fans who support local bands and original music and those that don’t –F**K YOU! A man who tells it like it is. Quite what he thought of the band’s decision to cover a Eurodance hit then shall remain unknown at present.

No doubt influenced by the likes of AC/DC, Guns’n’Roses, Bang Tango, Little Ceaser, Love/Hate, Velvet Revolver and I’m guessing even Steelheart. Opening track ‘Never Back Down’ has a chorus resembling the Paul Stanley/Desmond Child/Holly Knight penned ‘Hide Your Heart’ that Bonnie Tyler first recorded in 1988 that proved so popular that Stanley decided to do his original version in Kiss and even Ace Frehley adding an incestuous flavour to it amongst others. ‘Away From Danger’ has nice guitar melody lines whilst AC/DC style grooves are contained on ‘Baby You’re On Target’ that feature Miljenko Matijevic (Steelheart) style screams. In fact quite a few of the songs contain short bursts of said style screams and as Matijevic is on vocalist Vince’s thanks list, I’m curious to know if it wasn’t an uncredited Mili doing them himself? Oh the scandal!

That aside there is plenty on here to get your ass shaking and your hips swaying (for the ladies), and your head nodding and your feet tapping (for the fellas). Take the sleazy, fast guitar work of ‘Dark Lady’, the breezy, catchy ‘Riding Alone’ or the fast paced and riffy ‘Livin’ and Dyin’’ with its cool melodic flow. Elsewhere you have the high rocking tempo of ‘Power Of Your Sex’ and the grungy dark and heavy Velvet Revolver influenced ‘In Sorrow’.
Final track is the very left-field choice of Haddaway’s 1993 Eurodance hit ‘What Is Love’. They don’t translate terribly well at the best of times but it’s a decent stab.

On the whole, however, this album is definitely worth checking out.
