I just hope they get the distribution and recognition they so greatly deserve.
The first full album in seven years from the vehicle driven by Robs Wylde and Lane (Laney 74), 'Still Standing' is a much more mature offering for TCC fans. Having more than their fair share of bands under their belts with Wylde becoming guitarist for Tigertailz, Lane playing bass for a time with Let Loose, and both of them having a great deal of success with tribute band Poizon, the boys have always kept their love of bands like Cheap Trick, Enuff Z Nuff, Danger Danger et al close to their hearts, and this album is a fine example of all that's good about enthusiastic, feel-good rock.
It's just hook after hook and 'You Only Love Me When You Hate Me' could quite easily have been penned by Butch Walker, either for himself or for Pink. A definite hit there, but that's by far NOT the only one on this album. Long time drummer Spike along with Lane and Wylde welcome new guitarist Dave Kerr following the departure of Jamie Delerict (now fronting the excellent JD & The FDC's).
'Believe In You' is a reincarnation of a track from 'Eat Your Heart Out', as is 'Best Friend Is My Radio' – a track debuted on the 2011 compilation album 'Best Kept Secret'. I really don't think there's a bad track on the album, although my least favourite would be 'Without You'. Other than that one slight dip, I feel this is a great album and should tick a lot of boxes for anyone who enjoys well written, upbeat rock 'n' roll.
As this is a self release, I just hope they get the distribution and recognition they so greatly deserve.
