The Answer - O2 Academy, Newcastle (UK) - 23rd October 2013

18 months on the road with Aussie veterans AC/DC has certainly paid dividends for Ireland's The Answer. When they departed these shores in support of the mammoth 'Black Ice' tour they were a band with huge potential with the ability to bring "classic" back to Rock. Fast forward a year and a half and that potential has crystallised with the band stepping up and delivering their best album yet in 'New Horizon', an album that sees them growing exponentially as artists building on the promise of their first two albums and creating an album that will come to define their career.

With a set heavily weighted towards their latest release the band were clearly fired up as the title track opened proceedings, followed by 'Speak Now' and a first live airing of 'Burn You Down' coming thick and fast. It was a surprise however that guaranteed crowd pleaser 'Somebody Else' was left out...Older songs weren't overlooked with 'Under The Sky', 'Too Far Gone' and the set closing 'Preachin'' all hitting the mark and if anything rejuvenated by the band's renewed vigour.

Singer Cormac Neeson is really developing into a fine frontman in the vein of Robert Plant and Chris Robinson with the charisma and the pipes to match, while the rest of the band are no slouches either with guitarist Paul Mahon in particular showing his stuff.

Prior to 'New Horizon', The Answer were clearly at a crossroads in their career. A wrong turn could have led to the "where are they now" file, however the new album sees them confidently striding forward in the right direction and growing into one of the country's finest acts of recent times both on record and on stage.
