This is one reissue that certainly deserves another day in court.

Now a much respected writer, producer and musician – indeed elder statesman – of the German, nay global, melodic hard rock / heavy metal community, Mat Sinner has been an active mover and shaker on the scene since the late 70's.

With his namesake band Sinner, he forged a reputation for excellence that was responsible for some of the best music to come out of Germany in the early to mid 80's, but just like pretty much everybody else at the time his achievements were largely ostracized come the onset of grunge in the early 90's. And it's for that reason, and really only that reason alone, that 'Back To The Bullet' – his one and only solo album – seems to have been largely overlooked by the masses.

First released way back in 1990, it was put together in the extended period of Sinner's (the band) downtime between the 'Dangerous Charm and 'No More Alibis' albums. Quite why it was that Mat (or the powers that be) chose to market it under his own name is a bit of a mystery, as most (if not all) of the band actually appear, but if like me you were a big fan of the hook-laden melodic hard rock/metal with which the name Sinner was synonymous back then, you'd be wise to check it out and see what you've been missing all these years!

Containing nine originals and two covers – 'Crazy Horses' (the best track The Osmond's ever wrote in my humble opinion) and 'She's Got The Look' (billed as a bonus track, but it was on the original CD version as I recall) – it picks up where 'Dangerous Charm' left off and takes the Sinner sound right back to the 'Touch Of Sin/Comin' Out Fighting' days. Alex Beyrodt and Tom Naumann crank out some seriously bombastic riffs and solos, whilst the gravelly yet hypnotically charismatic vocals of the main man himself lend depth and character to the likes of 'Back To The Bullet', 'Every Second Counts', 'In The Name Of Rock 'n' Roll' and 'Tear Down The Wall'.

Completely remastered and repackaged with new artwork (the original was no great shakes to be honest) and a couple of additional video clips, this is one reissue that certainly deserves another day in court!
