An individual album of emotionally charged Rock 'n' Roll.
Swedish Power trio Kamchatka release their fifth album 'The Search Goes On', one that was produced by Per Wiberg (Candlemass, King Hobo, Spiritual Beggars). At the time of recording, the band only consisted of Thomas Andersson on guitars and vocals and drummer Tobias Strandvik. So they asked their producer and friend Wiberg to assist on bass guitar duties.
Opener 'Somedays' is a song laced with impressive guitar work and well thought out solos, there is little fluff here folks! Sharp riffs in the fashion of ZZ Top and rumbling bass guitar makes 'Sign Of The Sea' an instant winner as well as a stand out track. You could draw comparisons with Frank Marino and Clutch in the delivery of 'Tango Deadline' and 'Coast To Coast', while the super depressive riffs of 'Cross The Distance' paired with an energetic guitar solo bring the song to life.
The attention to detail lyrically of 'Broken Man' reveals a simple and accessible side to the music, despite being tough as leather. I loved the hard rock shuffle of 'Thank You For Your Time' which is dusty Rock 'n' Roll; the kind Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) used to produce before they went all hard drive.
Overall, Kamchatka has produced quite an individual album of emotionally charged Rock 'n' Roll.
