A strong sophomore album comprising a modern sounding mixture of Indie and Metal.
Sondura is a UK-based Rock band founded by brothers Tom and Jack Watson and supplemented by guitarist Luke Genders, bassist Steve Dillon and drummer Fred Green, who debuted with 'Live Before You Die' back in 2009. The sound of the band is an intriguing combination of Hard Rock and elements of the more commercial side of Indie Rock. The first song up is 'We're Here Now', the first single which also appeared on a Classic Rock magazine cover cd earlier in the year.
Full of thrash and vitality but with the aforementioned Indie vibe, this key to Sondura's sound continues throughout with the emphasis on a wall of sound rather than intricate soloing. A more Classic Rock sound appears mid-way through the album on 'You Remain' with its emotive chorus and tuneful outro guitar solo. 'More Than A Memory' stands out as a faster track with a synth sounding guitar motif and a lot of drive and attitude. Gritty tracks such as 'Another Bottle Down' work well with a good tone emanating from the twin guitars and strongly backed up vocals.
All in all, this is a strong sophomore album comprising a modern sounding mixture of Indie and Metal. Sondura is a band to look out for.
