Rocktopia approaches landmark 3,000 Album Reviews and prepares for ‘The Final Countdown’

Rocktopia approaches landmark 3,000 album reviews and prepares for ‘The Final Countdown’ to the posting up of four special exclusive album reviews in celebration.

From small acorns, the biggest of trees can grow; this was just one part of the original philosophy and thought process behind the Rocktopia Album Review Database. Of course there was much more behind the website than just New Release reviews (including exclusive interviews, DVD and Live reviews as well as plenty of exclusive Fireworks and Firefest material), but one of the core ideas behind it was to compile and build the best and widest ranging collection of Rock and Metal album reviews on the internet.

It was back in February 2010 that the first shoots from this idea appeared with the posting of a review for Brian Howe’s (ex-Bad Company) ‘Circus Bar’ album.

Bernhard Kellerer, “the guardian of Rocktopia” and one of the core members of the site along with Bruce MeeJames Gaden and Paul Jerome Smith recently stated that the continued end goal for the Reviews section of the website was to create the ultimate collection of Rock and Metal reviews. He continued that Rocktopia’s ultimate aim was to be the first stop for any fan seeking out quality thoughts and insights about albums, (both old and new), with the most comprehensive and largest collection of reviews available on the web. With this goal in mind, Rocktopia will launch its own album database in Q3 2014.

New Reviews Editor Dave Scott confirmed the whole team was working toward being Number One stating  ....

“... when you think of Melodic Rock music, we instantly want your next thought to be Rocktopia”.

From that first review in 2010, the team has set about achieving that goal with the help of the many highly respected writers that also feature in UK published Fireworks Magazine. Like the magazine itself, whilst Rock is the core genre of choice, many other styles of Rock and Metal are reviewed and featured. Now in 2014, the Reviews Section has expanded exponentially over four years and approaches a key moment in terms of the number of album reviews (3,000) posted so far.

The Rocktopia team have decided to mark this occasion in style and with ‘The Final Countdown’:

On Thursday 15 May, starting at 1900hrs BST, Rocktopia will be celebrating this achievement by posting up four very important and exclusive reviews.

The intention is to post up one key review per hour. Not wanting to spoil the surprises, no band names or album titles have been given away or even hinted at. But the Rocktopia crew has confirmed each of the four reviews will be for a new album from a classic, highly established and widely regarded band.

“Our aim is to be the first, or one of the first, places on the net where you can read the reviews of these four big name and albums as a way of highlighting and celebrating this key moment of 3000 album reviews”, said Kellerer

Anyone wanting to join in the ‘The Final Countdown’ can go to www.rocktopia.co.uk on 15 May 2014 after 1900hrs BST and find the first of these high profile reviews posted up, with the other three appearing each hour afterwards.
