There is much to recommend to new and old fans of this hard-working band.

Die So Fluid first surfaced in 2001, touring the country in support of their debut EP ‘Operation Hypocrite’. Since then, the London-based band have travelled relentlessly around Europe, releasing a further three albums. DSF’s last, ‘The World Is Too Big For One Lifetime’, was a well-received mixture of Gothic Rock and Punk.

Their new album ‘The Opposites Of Light’ could prove to be their most accessible release to date. Beginning with ‘Nightmares’, a punishing brand of Industrial Rock, singer Georgina Prebble has stretched out vocally making the song both charismatic and haunting with a quality that will appeal to a wide audience.

The rumbling bass guitar and danceable charm of ‘Comets’ make the song quite seductive whilst ‘Black Blizzard’ touches on Celtic musical themes and desolation; everything a young Goth could hope for!

The variety of styles continue, with the Metallic mayhem of ‘Anubis’ before we get a mixture of Nu-Metal and Punk for ‘You Suffocate We All Suffer’. I especially liked ‘Transition’ which reminded me of Siouxsie And The Banshees. The more subtle vocal approach has an air of importance which works well.

The orchestral arrangement of ‘Falcons’ is like a “Pocket Symphony For The Dead” and ‘Echo Of A Lie’ may just be Die So Fluid’s most emotive and rewarding song to date.

Having sixteen songs seems a little too much in my opinion and maybe released as a double vinyl album, it may work. That said, it may be too much to take in on one listen but given time, there is much to recommend to new and old fans of this hard-working band.
