An album that no matter how hard it tries simply fails to raise itself above an amateurishness.
Montreal Emo Rock band ‘Your Favorite Enemies’ follow up last year’s EP with their first proper full length.
As anyone who knows the band, it’s a real hotch potch of styles twisting anything from Modern Pop Rock (‘A View From Within’)’, fuzzed up Garage Rock (‘Anyone’) through to The Cure tinged Alt-Rock (‘Kingdom Of Sorrows’) or Utero era Nirvana (‘Obsession In A Gun’).
Sonic meanderings throughout, including whispered vocals and dreamy baselines detract from the business end of proceedings to define an album that no matter how hard it tries simply fails to raise itself above an amateurishness, created in part due to its poor production values.
