This is great stuff.

It is on Black Spiders’ outstanding ‘This Savage Land’ release and the track ‘Knock You Out’ that come the words “…let there be drums, let there be guitars, let the mayhem ensue”. And when hearing this, Massive’s debut ‘Full Throttle’, those words ring particularly true for holy hell does this ever Rock. Massive have thankfully made the decision to kick the Metal world’s ass by releasing a rip snorting collection of guitar heavy Hard Rock with some great vocal harmonies thrown in for good measure.

Sounding like a mixture of the guitars of the outstanding White Wizard and the heaviness of Love/Hate, with the melodic harmonies of ‘Strange Wind’ era (of the criminally underappreciated) T.S.O.L. thrown in for good measure, Massive have a sound that is comparable to that next door garage band that everyone wants to have play at their next backyard alco-thon. Impossible to ignore and completely burying itself in your Hard Rock soul, Massive have one agenda - never allowing the listener to catch their breath and keep their head banging continually from the opening track to the very end.

The songs themselves are simple but effective. As each song progresses through its playing time, the music draws the listener in, and we get lost in that which is swirling around us. A reach for the volume knob is made, and then it happens – we are thrown into a land where only Hard Rock guitars and heavy handed drums rule.

Listen (loudly) to the assault that is ‘Hollywood’, the massive (all puns intended) guitars of ‘One By One’, the drums of ‘Big Trend Setter’, the bass guitar of ‘Dancefloor’, the loud and completely infectious ‘Lacey’, (which reminded me of the sadly defunct band Overloaded and their totally killer song ‘Flashy Girl’ from their 2007 ‘Regeneration’ release). Things only get better as you hear the lyrics of the awesome ‘Ghost’ and the vocal screams during the intro of ‘If You Want Blood, You’ve Got It’ (an AC/DC cover bonus track).

Yeah, this is great stuff. I know I’ve said it before but I don’t care, I’m going to say it again – hey American and British radio, pick up on music like this, would ya?
