Not only has this band evolved but they have managed to stay relevant in 2014.

Follow up to 2011's 'Holding On To Strings Better Left To Fray' sees the band on a new label. A move that initially proved controversial, angering Seether's vocalist Shaun Morgan who said of the sale – "we were just being sold off like some sort of product". It has since been recognized by the band as a good move in terms of artistic integrity.

Wind-Up sold its back catalogue to Bicycle Music as well as its new recordings to offshoot Concord music group, the theory being that the label would then have money available to sign new acts and promote their existing trimmed roster. Spinefarm has taken up the option to release the album in Europe.

'Isolate And Medicate' isn't simply another album and deserves to be labeled more than just the bands sixth; arguably this is Seether's strongest and most commercial album to date and although Brendan O'Brien again produces (as he did on its predecessor), it has a stronger collection of songs. Whereas 'Holding ...' felt like it was a slightly experimental proving ground, this latest effort feels like the band knew what would work and what wouldn't.

The Nirvana influences remain present as you would expect, no more so than on opener 'See You At The Bottom' or the heavy showdown of 'My Disaster', but elsewhere there's uplifting forays into Pop territory as on the Weezer-like 'Same Damn Life', the Tears For Fears tinged 'Words As Weapons' or 'Crash' with its Indie Rock vibe. For angry Seether look no further than 'Suffer It All', for Mainstream Rock Seether there's 'Nobody Praying For Me' or 'Keep the Dogs At Bay', and for Pop Punk Seether there's always 'Watch Me Drown'.

Sure, fans of old 'Disclaimer' era Seether may point to the fact that as a whole the album isn't heavy or angry enough, but that album came out over ten years ago. The band – and in particular Morgan – has grown up, they get angry when they need to and the aggression is tempered with a depth and class of song-writing that shows that not only has this band evolved but they have managed to stay relevant in 2014. With 37,000 sales in its first week of release and single 'Words As Weapons' number one at Active Rock Radio in the U.S. it speaks for itself really doesn't it?
