Has all the makings of a classic debut.

Hailing from Sweden, Blues Pills are a multi-national band, fronted by the quite extraordinary vocals of one Elin Larsson and boasting the talents of eighteen year old French guitarist Dorain Sorriaux along with Cory Berry on drums and Zack Anderson on bass (both from the U.S.A.).

'High Class Women', with its mass of rumbling rhythms, is taken apart with Larsson's banshee-like vocals. It's quite unbelievable how this young woman can sing like this at her tender age. Sorriaux's seductive guitar gives a smooth touch to this shining gem of a song before it climaxes in an untamed assault.

'Ain't No Change' displays a strong influence of early Fleetwood Mac and the tight interplay between the instruments is to be applauded. Larsson allows her voice to become a whisper as the guitar takes the lead role on this track. The Funky guitar of 'Jupiter' and the foxy vocal would not be out of place in a Russ Meyer movie in my opinion!

The one word that comes to mind with 'Black Smoke' is "beautiful" and it is sung from the heart, before guitars wash over everything in a gutsy, raw onslaught. 'No Hope Left For Me' (a real standout song) is a soulful slow burner with enough tragedy in the vocal delivery to touch even the most hardened soul.

'Devil Man' and 'Little Sun' will be familiar to anyone who has heard their previous EPs, and here they have been slightly rearranged without losing any of the live energy of the originals.

'Astralplane' borrows from FM's 'Albatross' during the quieter moments, yet still allows Sorriaux's free reign style to throw out some jaw dropping guitar licks.

Their blend of Funk (with a touch of Isley Brothers) is all over 'Gypsy' in its dynamic delivery; yet again containing Larsson's dazzling vocals, which elevate the song, reminding us why she is one of the most exciting female vocalists to come along for a long time.

This self-titled album has all the makings of a classic debut and it cannot be long before these guys are an international name in the Rock world.
