This album is going to catapult Amaranthe into the big league.

This is a hugely enjoyable album! In fact the title 'Massive Addictive' couldn't be more apt. Amaranthe have hit us with an astonishingly catchy third album full of Thrashy riffs and harsh vocals from new boy Henrik Englund, intermingled with melodic synths and gorgeous harmony vocals from Elize Ryd, with Jake E Lundberg's male counterpoint vocals adding the dynamic depth and some of the most glorious Pop melodies aligned to a Metal heart you'll hear this side of Within Temptation.

Opening the album with 'Dynamite' is a sign of things to come with its use of synth elements and a pervading strong riff from joint founding member Olof Morck allied to the melodic vocals of Ryd and Lundberg. 'Drop Dead Cynical' is Euro Dance played to a Metal beat and by design is exceptionally catchy. With Pop melodies akin to WT and the harsh vocal elements of Englund, it's amazingly addictive. 'Trinity' is very much in the same vein as '...Cynical' and leaves smiles all round, where-by the title track has Lundberg and Ryd combining on the vocals, building up to a melodic, extremely catchy, chorus whilst Englund is used more sparingly this time.

'Digital World' has a driving underlying powerful riff very much like Evanescence and a great melodic chorus with the use of a digitalised vocoder on Ryd's voice, and just when you think it can't get any better, the semi-ballad 'True' begins with its lovely use of harmony synths and Ryd's gorgeous voice on the intro, eventually combining with Lundberg to offer comparisons to the exceptional 'Amaranthine' from their debut album.

Their Techno dance beats that are awash on this album do upset the purists, but I think more than ever Amaranthe have found the perfect balance between harsh, aggressive Metalalisation and their beautiful Pop sensibilities, so much so that the Dance rhythms and synth beats add to the flavour of the songs now as opposed to detracting from the overall feel of the more Metalised numbers which they kind of did back when I was getting into their debut album.

A case in point is 'Skyline' with its pacy, Thrashy rhythm from Morck's guitar, Morten Lowe Sorensen's drums and Johan Andreassen's bass with all three vocalists combining in sequence and a fabulous vocalised bridge, ascending in scale with a very interesting solo thrown in by Morck for good measure; all whist the Techno synth elements pop up and around in the background.

In summing up I am of the opinion that this album is going to catapult Amaranthe into the big league, where, on the balance of this release, is where they should be!
