An album to make you just sit back and smile whilst you're listening.

If you like your Rock full of youthful energy and enthusiasm then Rebellious Spirit are a great place to look. 'Obsession' is the second album from the German quartet who have already scored well with some well received live shows with compatriot Axel Rudi Pell and secured a deal with heavyweight Metal label Steamhammer/SPV.

Right from the start, title track 'Obsession' opens with an atmospheric, slightly distorted sound before kicking into a Hard Rocking twin guitar riff. A strong chorus packed with singalong type backing vocals epitomises what's to come. Whilst there's no denying that this is nothing but a Heavy Rock album, the band do pack their songs with a variety of influences from a touch of haunting, Industrial Rock to "radio friendly" Pop Rock. Yet all this as capably held together by a dynamism and passion that shines through above all. 'Lost' is the first single from the album and it's another catchy Rock tune full of soaring harmonies.

Jannick Fischer (guitar and vocals) has developed a maturity in his voice beyond his still teenage years from the tone of the first album, indeed the whole band comprising of elder brother Jens Fischer – bass, Corvin Domhardt – guitar and drummer Silvio Bizer have evolved as a band and in the depth of their song-writing. They still retain the Glam attitude of Guns N' Roses or Mötley Crüe, yet despite, or perhaps because of, their youth, there is no fear to take in other influences with signs of My Chemical Romance or HIM all piled in.

'Summer Moved On' is a huge, "radio friendly" Pop Rock tune along with 'Between The Highs And Lows' which is full of melodic hooks and harmonies that contrast well with the heavy rhythms of 'Together' and 'Look What I've Become'.

But more than anything else there is a sense that the boys are just going out and having fun, revelling in the pure enjoyment and excitement of being in a kick-ass Rock band. There is a freshness, naivety even, that the vagaries of the music industry hasn't knocked out of them yet and hopefully never will. 'Obsession' is an album to make you just sit back and smile whilst you're listening.
