Contains all the appealing elements of the Pop Punk genre with a twist.
Utilizing the talents of the now redundant Nate Young from Anberlin on drums, Yellowcard tread familiar territory on this, the band's eleventh album. Incorporating Sean Mackin's violin into the Pop Punk arrangements has always given Yellowcard a distinctive signature and so it continues.
From the opening instrumental 'Convocation' through to the gentle laziness of the stripped down 'California', it's far from predictable and Yellowcard make an effort to add a certain epic quality to songs like 'Crash The Gates' or 'Transmission Home'.
They can even be forgiven for the usual forays into Simple Plan territory on 'Make Me So' or on the synthesized acoustic 'One Bedroom' and despite Ryan Key's predictable nasal whine, 'Lift A Sail' contains all the appealing elements of the Pop Punk genre with a twist.
