Kaledon have recorded twelve great songs that keep you absorbed and entertained from beginning to end.

'Antillius: The King Of The Light' is Kaledon's new chapter in the ever growing, ever expanding saga of the Kingdom Of Kaledon. Set in year 1376 in and around a huge valley in the Northern England, the story tells tales of a flourishing Kingdom that sees Knights of Kaledon (both good and bad) battling evil Demon Lords, other warring Kings and life itself; there's also a love story and many other elements to discover.

The music itself is a glorious mixture of sounds that bring to mind Rhapsody, Iron Maiden and high-quality Symphonic Metal, with a lot of other things going on that make this a different listening prospect from your average Metal album. There are a lot of acted/sound passages between the songs that drive them along and all help the songs to continue the story line. The trouble for me therefore is to try to pick out just a few songs from an album that is the eighth in an ongoing conceptual series. I'll do my best by choosing some of my personal favourites.

'Friends Will Be Enemies' is a fast straight ahead Symphonic Metal track, one that has everything a fan of this type of music could ask for; crunching, stylish guitar riffs, soaring vocals and a battering ram of a rhythm section that all join together to create a glorious, over the top killer song. 'New Glory For The Kingdom' is another over the top song, a full-on, in the face attack of guitars and vocals with solos going off like explosions every second. I have to point out that Kaledon are not just a one trick (sound) pony however. Proof of this is the beautiful ballad 'Elisabeth' which helps the album to slow its pace and breathe and a track on which vocalist Marco Palazzi shines. Also worth noting is the mid-paced, broodingly brilliant 'My Will' where the whole band showcase their superb musicianship to great effect. Of course there are many others to choose from but discovering them and this whole story is best left to you.

Eight chapters (as the band call the albums) in and Kaledon just get better and better with each release. Despite the fact this is the eighth album in the series, you can dive into it without ever being worried that you'll get lost or not follow what's going on. That's because Kaledon have recorded twelve great songs that keep you absorbed and entertained from beginning to end. 'Antillius: The King Of The Light' is a great place to start out if you want to discover Kaledon's music, it's an equally great starting point if you want to then go back and see what else you've missed.
