Monster Magnet captures the spirit of 1960s music movement for modern times.

This hypnotic album will possess you instantly; you will be sucked into the darkest depths of the creative minds that is Monster Magnet. The opening instrumental track 'Let The Circus Burn' takes you on mystical nightmare – a dream-like feeling where you're spellbound to their musical fantasy. There is so much texture and layering with the synthesisers/keys, drums, guitars and sound effects that are done so imaginatively well. The song is seven minutes long and the whole time you're engaged; it's so coherent and fascinating to listen to, as there is so much going on. There is a feeling of each instrument adding its own part of the story, constantly building and adapting. What an opening!

'Mindless One '68' contains shadows of the dark past of The Doors. The keys have shades of Ray Manzarek's work; it is incredible and forms such an entrancing atmosphere. Bass player Jim Baglino is such a key player as well, his phrasing really adding depth and boldness to the track and there's such chemistry with drummer Bob Pantella.

The album takes a turn and drives you out of the depths of darkness with a fast paced track with playful Bluesy riffs, that would be 'End Of Time (B-3)'. It's a song you can really get into and sing along – giving a complete turnaround to the previous tracks. It really shows their craftsmanship in their song-writing.

MM's groovy soul escapes in 'Hallelujah (Fuzz And Swamp)' and there's an instant infatuation and it is one of the best tracks on the album. It brings a Folk Rock 'n' Roll life to the record thus giving it a fresh new sound.

Vocalist Dave Wyndorf takes a Johnny Cash approach for 'I Live Behind The Clouds (Roughed Up And Slightly Spaced)' suiting the sound immensely as they do with their known Black Sabbath influence for 'Goliath Returns'. There is an influence, not a representation, MM's stamp has been struck on it several times.

The whole album is unpredictable and this proves their ability to keep a listener on their toes. Monster Magnet captures the spirit of 1960s music movement for modern times. It is a Psychedelic vortex ready to transform and feed your muso ears.
