The musical equivalent of a warm cuddle on a cold night, with honey sweet vocals and hooks catchy as the common cold.

It's no secret that I am a long standing fan of British AORsters Romeo's Daughter. When they returned from a lengthy break with 'Rapture' a few years ago (nearly twenty years after their second album) I was a rather happy bunny, especially as the music contained was delectable. It's a couple of years further on and recently the band have revealed the follow up, and the music is pretty much what a fan of the previous album would expect – melodic, laid back at times and beautifully delivered.

Focus will always be on vocalist Leigh Matty, she has always displayed a fine set of pipes in the studio and on stage in equal measure. 'Spin' features several tracks that could be slotted into any period of the band's history, yet they still sound fresh for today's audiences. Rather than play traditional AOR like Night Ranger or Danger Danger, RD seem to have a sound that is simple yet all their own.

There is, and never has, been an urgency to get anywhere quick (except on the 1990's single 'Attracted To The Animal', maybe), but the songs are so well crafted that this facet simply isn't missed. 'Spin' doesn't get above a canter (the incredibly catchy riffs of 'Radio' would, in a just world, be a massive hit) and is unlikely to appeal to those who like their music fast and furious.

As ever, Romeo's Daughter separate themselves from the herd simply through delivering quality songs that won't scare away "non Rock" fans. 'Spin' is a perfect follow up to 'Rapture' with a similar pace and melody to it with the same crystal clear production. It's like the musical equivalent of a warm cuddle on a cold night, with honey sweet vocals and hooks catchy as the common cold. Yeah, I must be getting soft in my old age because I absolutely love this.
