A fine effort, with plenty of energy.

"Honeymoon Disease" is cystitis caused by sexual activity (according to Google, I hasten to add) but apparently it's also the name of a brand new band, who are maybe hoping to spread like... actually I'll stop that metaphor before I even start.

Signed to Napalm, the first thing I can tell you about HD is they are a band who lets their music do the talking. There is very little information about the group themselves on their website or Facebook page other than the fact they are two girls and two guys from Gothenburg, so you have little other option but to listen to their tunes. And that in itself is not a bad tactic.

They play "groovy Rock 'n' Roll" and the driving opener 'Higher' is a very good start. The band have bags of energy and the mix is great, and things only get better with 'Stargazer'. No, it's not a cover of the Rainbow epic, but it is a fine foot tapper which sees vocalist Jenna soaring over the pulsating rhythm section and guitar work.

There's a retro feel to their material, both in cover image and in sound, with 'Imperial Mind' mixing one of the best choruses on the record with some guitar work that's not a million miles from Status Quo (in parts). 'Gotta Move' continues to keep the pace frenetic, while the short but very sweet 'You're Too Late' follows suit.

'Breakup' brings the tempo down a little and allows Jenna to come to the fore a little more, 'Bellevue Groove' gets things going again before the powerhouse 'Fast Love' drives things forward. 'Rock 'N' Roll Shock' allows guitarist Acid chance to go power-chord crazy, as 'Brand New Ending' pushes the throttle once more. 'Keep Me Spinning' has a classic seventies Rock riff and a touch of Hammond Organ thrown in, before things breathlessly come to a close.

I had no idea what to expect from Honeymoon Disease but their obvious enthusiasm for seventies Rock, combined with some great riffs and a complete lack of ballads, won me over. A fine effort, with plenty of energy, if you like your Rock retro and relatively no frills, this might well be worth your time.
