The songs are all catchy, hook-filled and instantly memorable.

Most of you will already have heard the wonderful Cats In Space album 'Too Many Gods' (if not... why not?). Well if you have and you liked what you heard, then for your further delectation may I introduce to you the new solo album from (CIS and former Sweet bassist) Jeff Brown which kind of continues where CIS left off.

The same Classic Rock sound found on his other projects permeates this album's music and we once again get to hear some great Melodic Rock tracks. Songs played by a group of people with a real passion for their craft. With a resume that includes working with artists such as Alan Silson (original Smokie), Ian Gillian (Deep Purple), John Coughlan (Status Quo), John Lawton (Uriah Heep) and many more, you'd expect '23 Years' to have class written all the way through it... and it does. Also I have to give a big thumbs up to the production, Okay it isn't a multi-million pound one but the warmth and depth it brings to the eleven songs more than makes up for that.

So why not do yourselves a favour and give a listen to 'Crazy World', the UH-influenced 'Casino Royale', 'Contagious', the all-out Rockin' romp of 'Fallen Angels', 'When The Love Is Gone', 'Calling Me, Calling You' and the wonderful 'Slipping Away' and you'll soon find yourself in the foot tapping, grin inducing musical world created by Brown and his band (which consists of guitarists Niko Arvanitis and Peter Szigeti, drummer J├╝rgen Reinert and keyboardist Gary Moberley with the main man taking bass and vocal duties).

Let me say, before the "it ain't original" brigade get up on their high horses and complain, yes... you've heard this kind of stuff before. But that doesn't matter though because the music itself is well played, has some great musical performances and the songs themselves are all catchy, hook-filled and instantly memorable.

When all is said and done, they make you feel good while you're listening to them which is, for me personally, what music is all about.

Ian Johnson
