A fine slice of Bluesy Hard Rock that is full to bursting with powerful songs, vocals and musicianship.

When I was assigned this album for review, I was jokingly asked if it sounded like Whitesnake again? Well guess what... it does... but get over it because I don't think that that matters all that much in the long run.

What does matter is the fact that guitarist Alex Beyrodt and his band Voodoo Circle have once again put together a fine slice of Bluesy Hard Rock that is full to bursting with powerful songs, vocals and musicianship. In fact, I'd go as far as saying, that this is one of the best vocal performances that I've heard from David Readman (and that's saying something as a long time Pink Cream 69 fan).

Kicking things off with the PC69 meets Rainbow and Whitesnake flavoured 'Trapped In Paradise' let's you know that VC are back with a bang and the superb vocal interplay of Readman and the band's keyboard player, our good friend Alessandro Del Vecchio, only helps to draw you in to this album's seventies-influenced musical heart.

Other songs that I'd urge you to give a chance include the up-tempo 'Heart Of Stone' where Del Vecchio's Hammond B3 shines and the Blues workout of 'The Rhythm Of My Heart' where Readman gives a commanding vocal performance and Beyrodt and Del Vecchio trade guitar and keyboard licks; it reminds you of the hay days of Micky Moody, Bernie Marsden and the late Jon Lord. '5 O'Clock', with Beyrodt's wonderful slide guitar, and the Bad Company-like 'Watch And Wait (I Got My Eye On You)', should all go some way in showing just what a great band VC really are.

'Whisky Fingers' won't change the musical world and it certainly won't reinvent Rock music. Why should it? It's an album that (instead) must be enjoyed for its own merits which include stunning musicianship from all the band members, a warm production that gives a real depth to the songs and finally a vocalist who, on this showing, is at the top of his field. You like Rock? Then you'll like this.
