If proof were needed that Accept are still the Godfathers of Germanic Metal, this is it right here.

Mark Tornillo has been nothing short of a revelation as the front-man of reborn German Metallers Accept, the one-time TT Quick vocalist helping the veteran outfit to move on from their past with three superb comeback albums. Since 2010's 'Blood Of Nations', the band have simply gone from strength to strength and the feat that once proved impossible for singer David Reece – of replacing Udo Dirkschneider – has, for Tornillo, been remarkably straight forward. Fresh from their first No.1 album – a feat 'Blind Rage' achieved both in Germany and Finland – Accept are 'Restless And Live', this DVD's title one of the few ways in which they now rely their past.

Filmed at their headline slot at 2015's Bang Your Head festival, Accept's first full live release with Tornillo finds them in top form, founder members Wolf Hoffmann and Peter Baltes confidently prowling the stage as they utilise every inch of the experience they've built up over the years. However, it's no exaggeration to proclaim Tornillo the star of this show, the growling, gruff, yet pitch perfect performance from the grey denim-clad singer as energetic as it is faultless. Impressively he manages to infuse classic cuts such as 'Fast As A Shark', 'Losers And Winners' and 'Metal Heart' with his own strident vocal personality, while paying more than enough due respect to his predecessor.

With the eighteen song set split ten to eight in favour of new (last three, Tornillo-led albums) over old, it's not just the front-man who is showing just how confident he is. Hence through the opening salvo of 'Stampede' and 'Stalingrad', mid-set charge of 'Dying Breed', 'Final Journey' and 'Shadow Soldiers' or late in the night outbursts of 'Dark Side Of My Heart' and 'Pandemic', it's clear that Accept post-2010 is every bit as good as anything they've done before.

Keen to send the new and old guard home equally happy, the show closes with the newer 'Teutonic Terror' and stone cold classic 'Balls To The Wall', Baltes, Hoffmann and Tornillo standing as one to batter the crowd into one final submission. Put it all together and 'Restless And Live' makes a mighty statement, this multi-camera production is as eye-catching as it is ear bashing, the sound mighty, clear and mesmerising. If proof were needed that Accept are still the Godfathers of Germanic Metal, this is it right here.
