This may just be Hinder's best album to date.

Hinder could have stood still and continued in the same vein as 2008’s ‘Take It To the Limit’ to release an album full of saccharine sweet pop melodies and eighties clichés, but they haven’t. In a brave attempt to add a little more hard rock kudos to their name, the band have in the main steered away from everything that made ‘Take It To The Limit’ what it was. “Fifth member” Brian Howes has surprisingly been dispensed with, not only on the production side but also in the songwriting aspect. In comes Kevin Churko to give the band more edge, with the writing duties left solely to Austin Winkler and Cody Hanson with co-write contributions from country duo Brett and Brad Warren, producer and songwriter Ted Bruner, Nashville songwriters, Chris Tompkins and Jeffrey Steele – amongst others, with Churko himself also contributing.

The country slant is evident on songs such as ‘Put That Record On’ an ode to classic rock where Winkler pleads “If you thinks it’s a shame I behave this way blame it on Back In Black”, and the bouncy ‘Hey Ho’, whilst Hinder crank up the guitars on the title track, ‘Striptease’ – Winkler does a more than competent Brian Johnson impression on the heaviest song that Hinder have so far recorded - and ‘Waking Up the Devil’. Tangible links with ‘Take It To The Limit’ come in the form of power ballad ‘The Life’ and the superbly hooky ‘Red Tail Lights’. Churko gets the best out of vocalist Winkler throughout, whilst amidst all the madness, hard partying and debauchery, Joe ‘Blower’ Garvey shows that he is also a highly accomplished guitarist, setting the tone with some excellent solos throughout.

Once you get over the fact that ‘All American Nightmare’ isn’t ‘Take It To The Limit Part 2’ this album comes into its own, and whilst some will undoubtedly hate it for this, it may just be Hinder’s best album to date.
