An absolutely well-crafted album worthy of attention from all fans of Hard Rock.

In an ideal world, art (in all of its forms) should be one pursuit that can be taken part in and enjoyed/experienced by everyone due to its inclusiveness and general neutrality when it comes to gender, sex, politics and race (as opposed to its subject matter which is often based on these facets). However, no matter its best intentions, a bias always seems to be lurking in the shadows when it comes to rating music with female musicians. Thankfully, Frontback and 'Heart Of A Lion' provide further proof that all-female and Female-Fronted Hard Rock bands are crucial to the canon and longevity of Hard Rock music around the globe. Entering the scene in 2003 with their debut 'Born With A Secret', Swedish Rockers Frontback are currently celebrating the release of its follow-up release, which is indeed cause for celebration.

The band possess absolute laser focus from the outset and take no time easing the listener in with the album's fierce opener 'All The Way For Fame'. The band deliver a simple and straightforward style of Hard Rock in the most classic sense of the term, and execute it with a genuine bravura that is felt throughout. Anlo Front's vocals will draw immediate comparison to Gwen Stefani, yet undertones of Carrie Underwood and Stevie Nicks cannot be ignored. Regardless of any similarity, 'Heart Of A Lion' is the Hard Rock album any one of those iconic women would likely welcome into their own discographies.

Comprising of ten solid tracks delivered with aplomb, this album is all you need to satisfy your most difficult Hard Rock cravings. There's no point highlighting specific tracks, since they are all winners, and the album's sequencing makes for a total listening experience. The sonics are congruent with the quality of the songs, especially considering the great tone of the bass guitar and how prominently it's featured in the mix. Bassist Jonas Perrson's performance is a major contribution to the music, especially with his lively fills on 'Fender', which are as equally strong as Axel Graneskog's involvement on lead guitars.

Not only will existing fans of Female-Fronted Hard Rock music, such as Canada's Diemonds and England's Nitroville, have another one to add to their collection, this is an absolutely well-crafted album worthy of attention from all fans of Hard Rock.
