Full of melodic, bouncy and frenetic Pop Punk.

Get this folks, Punk Rock is alive and well and thriving in Austria. Turbobier, who've only been around since 2014, have released this new album 'Das Neue Festament' (roughly any one of 'The New Congregation/Church/Celebration') and it's gone straight in at Number One in the Austrian national album charts! (Kreator's 'Gods Of Violence' has made Number Four incidentally, so the Austrians like their heavy music).

Debut album 'Irokesentango' was released in 2015, but that was after a slew of YouTube videos made them famous in Austria and they started distributing their own beer (Turbobier naturally) from breweries throughout Germany and Austria whilst also winning the "Hard And Heavy" category at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards. With 'Turbobier Bierrechner' (beer calculator), the band have also launched their own app on the market.

So what to make of this sophomore effort from Marco Pogo (vocals/guitar), Doci Doppler (vocals/guitar), Baz Promuü (vocals/bas) and Fredi Füzpappn (vocals/drums)? Well, for starters Pogo sings in a heavy Viennese dialect so even native Germans, particularly from the North (Hamburg, Bremen, Hannover, Berlin etc.), will struggle to understand a good deal of it.

There's also quite a bit of local slang thrown in for good measure as well as a (heavily accented) political message with most of what they do, in addition to the copious amounts of beer that they consume and partying with the audience. Although the political message is serious, they engage in a lot of fun and want the music to be a happy experience, so less Trust and more Green Day.

With influences ranging from Rancid, The Sex Pistols and Misfits through to the Ramones, it's more surprising that they aren't very raw and raucous, although to be fair their debut album was rather less polished than this one. What is notable though is that they've written enough material to fill an album's worth, so no Adele or Taylor Swift covers (yes, really!) this time. Suffice to say, if you take a listen to 'Verliebt In Einen Kiwara' ('In Love With A Police Officer') or 'Ein Mensch Ist Ein Mensch' ('A Man Is A Man') that are both full of melodic, bouncy and frenetic Pop Punk, then you will pretty much get what Turbobier are all about. Austria has certainly sat up and taken notice with Germany catching up fast – what price the rest of Europe?
