Rough around the edges but improving after a fair few listens,
This is the self-titled debut album from this five-piece Hard Rock band with links to Brazil and Germany. Whilst it took a few listens to get into it, it did grow on me more after a few spins. It's Classic Metal in the old mould, influenced from a time when there was only one form of Hard Rock, with bands like Scorpions, AC/DC et al.
'We're Not Going Home Tonight' is a party song about goin' out; straightforward and relatively commercial, it's a good choice for an opener. 'Live It Up (The Festival Song)' is in a similar vein and is an idealistic song about (unsurprisingly) the best festival ever, it's optimistic and old-school as Hard Rock/Pop songs go and not bad. 'Pole Dance' and 'Jungle Girl' are songs about the ultimate male fantasy girl, a la Mötley Crüe's 'Girls, Girls, Girls' and are reasonable enough bits of Sleaze.
'Devil Inside', about uncontrollable impulses, is heavier and a little more Thrashy. 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark?' has something of the Pop Will Eat Itself Grebo about it and is commercially minded. 'Adrenaline' and 'Between The Weed 'N' Whiskey' feature the straightforward Teutonic Metal approach whereas 'Here I Am' is a love song and as close to AOR as this album gets.
So a fair few styles explored on the album, suggesting the band may still be working out its identity. Rough around the edges but improving after a fair few listens, all in all 'Hard On' is a decent enough listen with a good mastery of the English tongue.
