Impressive stuff.

With a name like Valor and song titles like 'The Crown Of Evermore', I was half expecting the band to look like a cross between Manowar and Hammerfall, all leather studded wristbands, drinking horns and broadswords, so to see a bunch of chaps who wouldn't look out of place in a banking convention came as something of a surprise. Not the usual image for this type of music but then again, it is the music that counts after all.

'Arrogance: The Fall' is the Greek Metallers third album and their follow-up to 2015's 'The Crown and The Ring' and it certainly has enough to raise them above other bands of a similar ilk.

Instrumental opener 'Uprising' sets the scene nicely and lays the foundations for the following nine tracks with its taught riffing and lively drums that are overlain by an atmospheric layer of keyboards giving something of a sinister and menacing undertone.

Fireworks - The Ultimate Magazine For Melodic Rock Music

'Arrogant Fall' follows without pause as the twin guitar harmonies of Vasilis Kourkoutas and Spyros Soldatos tightly intermesh with the galloping drums of Thordoris Andritsos before vocalist Vaggelis Krouskas joins the fray.

Krouskas's powerful voice is perfect in this context, coming across like a more melodic Blaze Bayley mixed with a large dash of Royal Hunt's DC Cooper. It's a delivery that is strong and melodic with a drama-tinge to it that really suits the self-proclaimed Greek Melodic Epic Power Metallers – a description that sums them up perfectly.

The rest of the album follows a similar path, all characterised by twin guitar harmonies, cutting riffs and hugely memorable melodies with 'In The Name Of Valor' and 'Dark Are The Eyes Of The Night' standing out, but they save their most epic and tastiest morsel, 'No Angel's Face', until last. Overall, Valor and 'Arrogance: The Fall' is impressive stuff.
