It's a sincere, long and groovy trip that Kadavar have created with their new offering,

A lot has happened since Berlin's Kadavar first formed in 2010. Successful tours with bands like Blues Pills, alongside a hard-working ethic, have given the band a loyal following and allowed them to reach their fourth album in a short amount of time.

Their new release starts with the title track in traditional Kadavar fashion, the guitars crash in and out of the furious rhythm section, although there is a noticeably more melodic approach to the chorus. The band quickly taps into more familiar territory during 'Into The Wormhole', a slow sludge of Psychedelic intentions, at times sounding like Electric Wizard, at other points Hawkwind, that almost has your head spinning.

What becomes apparent is, though the band has clearly found their own musical niche, they are happy to experiment. Nothing too radical but just enough to keep things interesting. Singer and guitarist Christoph "Lupus" Lindermann uses his voice in new ways, at times sounding remarkably like a young Ozzy Osbourne during 'Skeleton Blues'.

Fireworks - The Ultimate Magazine For Melodic Rock Music

Throughout the album, there is a wealth of fresh and bold musical ideas. 'Vampires' has a swamp-rat Blues feel to the guitars, yet the verses touch on the delightful Pop Rock style of the sixties – a wonderful concoction. The influence of Tangerine Dream during 'Tribulation Nation' sends the song off into a stratospheric swirl of tripping keyboards and hypnotic guitars. 'Words Of Evil' once again taps into the Black Sabbath influence but with a touch of Blue Cheer for good measure. Never say Kadavar don't have heart in their song-writing, 'The Lost Child' is a mixture of sensitive vocals that at any given moment transform into a super-charged groove.

It's a sincere, long and groovy trip that Kadavar have created with their new offering 'Rough Times'.
