If you're a fan of the Black Country Communion or that circa 1974 sound in general... then this is for you.

A couple of things I need to say up front here. Firstly, Black Sabbath has a lot to answer for! Rarely has a genre been divided & sub-divided into so many confusing groupings, there's Traditional Doom, Epic Doom, Stoner Doom, Desert Doom, Psychedelic Doom, Sludge Doom, Death Doom, Black Doom, Funeral Doom, Drone Doom... the list seems (& sometimes feels) endless. I'll also be honest and admit that I can't stand the Ozzy Osbourne-fronted Sabbath, for me, the band only came alive when the majestic Ronnie James Dio came onboard. Sadly, pretty much every Doom related band ever connects only with the Osbourne era – and that's not (in my humble opinion) a very good thing at all (yes heresy I know!). Secondly, there already was/is a band called Radio Moscow, a British band led by Diamond Head's Brian Tatler.

In all honesty, this Radio Moscow has more to do with Psychedelic Blues than it does Sabbath-laden Doom which is actually rather a good thing. It's far more melodic than I might have anticipated, and far more exploratory too. Forget the Doom genre and think more along the lines of Led Zeppelin, Cream, it's almost King's X-esque in places.

The band's indubitable drug experimentation takes them into jam-band territory too, sometimes tight, sometimes almost scarily loose, like it's all going to fall apart, yet the power trio somehow manages to rally every time instead of spiralling into shambolic chaos.

Vocalist/Guitarist Parker Griggs is the centre of this wild 'n' woolly unit, his rambunctious guitar histrionics gel superbly with his Iowa laconic soul roar, he's a natural front-man, semi-freewheeling, semi rhythm king, but all business. Speaking of rhythm kings, the band is powered along by bass guitarist Anthony Meier and drummer Paul Marrone who make for a genuinely fluid yet bombastic rhythmic pairing, moving & grooving with vibrant potency. It's a Stone groove man! This sixth Radio Moscow album is for fans of the whole "Retro Groove Thang", so I'm guessing if you're a fan of the Black Country Communion or that circa 1974 sound in general... then this is for you.
