Cue the cheesy pun; the "scope" for Kaleido is limitless.

'Experience' is the debut full-length release from Detroit-based, Female-Fronted Contemporary Hard Rock quintet Kaleido, comprising of Christina Chriss (vocals), Joey Fava (drums), Ronnie Rosolino (rhythm guitar), Cody Morales (bass) and Zach Bolling (lead guitar). Already with two successful EP's under their belt, they've built up a decent reputation whilst plying their trade as an opening act to the diverse likes of Slash, Aerosmith, Evanescence, Living Colour and Ace Frehley... amongst countless others.

The album really is an 'Experience' with a variety of musical styles throughout that veer from Rock to Reggae with flourishes of Punk and Funk in between. The more straight-forward, commercial Modern Hard Rock of 'Blue Collar Delight', 'No More Little Miss Nice Bitch' and 'Love & War' (the latter co-written with and featuring a duet with Alien Ant Farm's Dryden Mitchell) will certainly appeal to the Halestorm, Paramore and The Pretty Reckless fraternity.

There's also a definite quirkiness to Kaleido that owes a debt of gratitude to Gwen Stefani and No Doubt; not just the occasional interludes between songs, but the song 'Trouble In Paradise' is all Reggae rhythms, unusual keyboard textures and sultry vocal from Chriss. 'Dreadlock Holiday' it ain't, but as it's been chosen as a single it demonstrates that Kaleido are prepared to do things a little differently.

On the flip-side, the lovely, somewhat understated 'All Together' remains just shy of out-and-out Power Ballad territory, the melody subtle but nonetheless intoxicating, while 'The End' is a serene, almost ethereal, keyboard-orchestrated ballad that only briefly erupts into life, and a mature way to close the album.

Pretty female lead-singer? Check. Entertaining live act? Check. Smart lyrics? Check. Musically talented? Yep. Melodies and great songs aplenty? Hell yeah! Cue the cheesy pun; the "scope" for Kaleido is limitless.
