An album that will satisfy long standing fans.

The Los Angeles Sleaze peddlers have buried the hatchet (hence the title) so main players Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns reunite to create an album that will satisfy long standing fans. Lewis's recent output under the Guns name has seen them experimenting with their core sound, while Tracii Guns' outfit Devil City Angels, who put out a decent album a couple of years ago, saw him show a more polished and sophisticated side to his playing.

Rather than pick up on what they've both been doing recently, they've ditched that and gone for a sound that evokes their early years, creating an album that could sit between their debut and the follow-up 'Cocked And Loaded'. It's surprisingly spit and sawdust when it comes to the production but that actually suits the Sleazy vibe.

Englishman Lewis still sounds feral and on opener 'It's All The Same To Me' a little dangerous; the kind of guy that would value his next hit over anything else. There's a sense, due to the lyrical references, that chemicals still play a part in the character of Lewis. The music is simple, direct Sleazy Rock 'n' Roll.

First single 'Speed' is classic L.A. Guns, all low-slung riffs and Lewis's part Punk, part Hard Rock vocals that value character over technique. 'Baby Gotta Fever' and 'Kill It Or Die' are a couple of the other straight-ahead Rockers that hit the target. There are a couple of cowboy ballads on here too, in the shape of 'Christine' and 'The Flood's The Fault Of The Rain', that have strong hummable melodies, and have a more authentic world weariness than a younger band would be able to convincingly pull off. Only on the final two tracks, 'The Missing Peace' and 'Gave It All Away', do they stray from their blueprint and go for a more epic, Classic Rock sounding approach which by and large works, especially on the former with its hard-hitting hook.

This is not likely to convert the uninitiated, but for those who fell sway to their skinny ass, booty shaking arch Rock first time round, this new release will be most welcome.
