Shows us what four masters in music can create, with a little help from their friends, of course.

Beyond The Labyrinth is a very interesting group, and a very interesting concept for a band of musicians. The band comprises of guitarist Geert Fieuw, Sjoerd Bruyneel on keyboards, bassist Dominic Heynderickx and Michel Lodder on drums/percussion. Notice, if you will, there is no vocalist? These four surround themselves with equally talented musical friends, ranging from guest vocalists to additional guitars and drums. 'The Art Of Resilience is the fourth effort from the BTL. Fieuw and Bruyneel are the group's main composers, and they lean toward a lighter approach, but with Progressive and Classical movements.

When listening to this release, you can hear a vast and wide-ranging sound-scape, built upon solid melodic rhythms and heavenly orchestrations and arrangements. What you are listening to are four masterful musicians that demand equally masterful performances from their musical guests, especially the vocalists. Each and every guest performs with intensity, colour, and emotion; however, there are too many to start naming them in this review, suffice to say that each one comes forth with passion and performs likewise.

On 'Shape Shifter', we hear a very emotive vocal performance that further cements the powerful essence of the music beds. This is repeated time and time again, and not only with the singers, but with the guest guitarists and various string musicians. All in all, this methodology and type of performance gives the core band members much more room to explore the vastly varied musical plateaus they embark upon, and with great confidence as well! Beyond The Labyrinth can go from a Classical-themed Progressive movement to a punchy, Bluesy rollicking performance with the greatest of ease, and every musical vista they create is memorable and sticks with you.

'The Art Of Resilience' is a massive undertaking and just shows us what four masters in music can create, with a little help from their friends, of course!
