If you love heavy, well played Rock with a retro bluesy feel, then this album is for you.

Sweden is fast becoming the nation that delivers. Its bulging Rock scene has yet again produced another new band throwing their hat into the ring. This Gothenburg-based four-piece have gone for a very retro sound, but with an added modern twist. This foursome is half male, half female (a successful Swedish formula) with dual female vocals and guitars from Jenna and Acid, and a male rhythm section featuring bassist Cedric and drummer Jimi. Forming in 2015, the band's previous album 'The Transcendence' allowed them to become very active on the European live scene with some great support slots.

From the opening track 'Doin' It Again', you can feel the retro groove, from the deep bass drum kicking in through to the snarly whirling of the twin guitars and the catchy chorus. 'Tail Twister' swings into Jazz Rock mode, complete with background brass accompaniment, giving it a great rhythm throughout. As the album progresses, you get a great earful of guitar stylings, everything from Blues to full-on Hard Rock, but all with a toe-tapping vibe. 'Calling You' picks the pace up with pounding guitars, while the duel vocal performance is sublime in places, yet in others, it picks you up and gives you a good shaking.

'Fly Bird Fly High' has a guitar sound that Chuck Berry would've been proud of, it has an intense Rockabilly feel with a definite hint of Punk thrown in for good measure. 'Four Stroke Woman' has a seventies Runaways vibe, the blasting beat and vocal harmonies from the girls will obviously draw comparisons. The songs are well thought out and it sounds like they've really been allowed to express themselves, both lyrically and in their playing, and the mix of guitar and rhythm section is second to none. The band plays with a great maturity and it feels like they've been together for years.

'Part Human, Mostly Beast' is a monster of an album. It's very retro sounding in places, yet heavy in others, and it's chock full of melody and harmony. The songs are infectious and there's not a clunker to be found. The band can be proud of this sophomore release and they are surely ready to take the next step up the ladder.

If you love heavy, well played Rock with a retro bluesy feel, then this album is for you. If you don't, why not give it a listen anyway, you may be surprised.
