Nasty Crue are moving in the right direction but for now, it's baby steps.

Take out the 'W' and shove an 'R' in the middle, and to a non-linguist, these Polish Glam Metallers sound like they hail from the coolest place on God's green earth. Unfortunately, "Rocklaw" it is not, rather Wroclaw, which isn't big Glam Metal country and neither for that matter is Poland generally. Therefore, this lot appear to be lone rangers in their homeland when it comes to Sleaze-laden, spandex worshipping Rock. Nasty Crue announced their arrival in 2013 with the sturdy eight track EP 'Rock 'N' Roll Nation', and if you're of a rude festive persuasion, you'll no doubt enjoy their blushingly explicit version of 'Jingle Bells'.

One thing is for certain, these boys know how to make an entrance. This album erupts with the galloping 'Cabin In The Woods', a full-blooded thumper, and if you can get past the slight Eurovision vibe, it's a nifty little runner. 'Riots In Heaven' keeps your heart pumping with a searing chorus that will no doubt get temperatures soaring in the live domain.

If it weren't for the cringe worthy title, 'What Happens On Backstage Stays On Backstage' would be a perfect Rock anthem. With a crunching riff, a sweet melodic guitar solo and a muscular tempo, the shine on the big ballsy chorus quickly wears off with the ropey title.

Bar the monumental rip-off of Warrant's 'Cherry Pie' with 'Lynchburg Tennessee', the album loses its mojo mid-play. 'Movie Star', 'Crime Wave' and 'Make Some Noise' are all admirable efforts but remain limp after several spins. Thankfully, the rest of the album sizzles. 'Friday Night Fever' and 'Johnny & Mary' smoulder beautifully in Pop Rock tones, and closer 'Find My Way' sees them unplugged for a tidy and honest bit of acoustic.

While 'Riots In Heaven' is proof the band are growing as song-writers, there's still a vein of naivety protruding through a lot of the songs. As a band, they are an able lot; Peter Shuffle mans the axe consistently throughout and vocalist Jøn Jøndrensen is reliable and workmanlike, if not quite a powerhouse. Having said that, neither was Vince Neil and he's been spectacularly getting away with it for years.

Nasty Crue are moving in the right direction but for now, it's baby steps.
