Hinder are now the complete antithesis of the instantly recognisable band they once were.
This is Hinder's sixth album – and their second with vocalist Marshal Dutton – and it continues the band's ultimate journey into obscurity. Poor songs and less than exemplary production, together with Dutton's ordinary vocal delivery, conspire to make this album forgettable.
Winkler's absence (the band are suing him for using the Hinder name to advertise his solo career) robs the band of its identity and focal point, while the songs themselves simply don't carry the weight of past glories – 'All American Nightmare' being a particular high point.
Rather ironically, 'King Of The Letdown' attempts to Rock out and in doing so proves to be a highlight. However, 'Remember Me' comes across like a Skillet out-take and 'Too Late' sounds like something Bon Jovi has recorded a thousand times before.
The drum sound throughout is reminiscent of a demo rather than a finished product and the lack of a producer and accomplished song-writer (the band fell out with Brian Howes a while ago) means that Hinder are now the complete antithesis of the instantly recognisable band they once were.
