This album, although well produced and put together, really doesn't bring out the Psychedelic/Space Rocker in me.

This is the Swedish band's third album, but a first for me, so a brief surf around the internet to discover a little more about the band was in order, and it turns out that they reside in the rather niche world that is Progressive/Psychedelic/Space Rock. With that in mind, a sharp intake of breath was taken and I dived headlong into the (some say) murky world of said genres.

The first thing that strikes me is the overall sound of the album. It has a real retro feel to it, harking back to a time when this sort of thing was more part and parcel of the musical landscape. Spread out over five fairly lengthy tracks, this album is dominated by flute and Hammond Organ, which is fine if you like that sort of thing, but I found that over the course of a whole album, it did start to grate somewhat on the senses. Instrumental in nature, it could probably benefit with vocals to break up the incessant noodling, but I guess vocals are not on the band's mind right now. There's no doubting that these guys know their way around their respective instruments, but I found the tracks did tend to merge into one another.

Album opener 'Landet Längesen' starts promisingly enough, but over its ten minute length it started to meander without much purpose, which is a trait I found with the album as a whole really. The shortest piece on show is the five minute 'Sorgenfri', but even with its comparatively short length, it also unfortunately suffers from the same type of meandering style as the rest of the album. I'm actually quite partial to a bit of flute and Hammond riffage myself, but this album does nothing for me.

Repeated plays didn't really alter my outlook either; in fact, it just reinforced my opinion that this album, although well produced and put together, really doesn't bring out the Psychedelic/Space Rocker in me. I'm sure there are plenty of fans of this type of thing still out there who will lap this up, but this release unfortunately doesn't float my boat.
