California Breed - 'California Breed'

Glenn Hughes returns after the demise of Black Country Comm, with a brand new powerhouse trio called California Breed. The band consists of BCC drummer Jason Bonham and new guitar wiz kid Andy Watt, a precocious and very talented young twenty-something, who brings a fresh and vibrant approach to the songs on the album; And what a set of songs they are. Raw, energetic and filled with attitude each track has a 70's retro feel to it and the music harks back to the golden age of British Rock, when not a day or week went past, without something good coming out.
Hughes himself is outstanding as usual (well he is God after all) and his powerful vocals and screams belie the man's age, whilst Bonham and Watt accompany him with a gusto and passion that is wonderful to witness. So listening to 'Sweet Tea', 'Chemical Burn' the intoxicating 'Days They Come', 'Spit You Out' and 'Scars' should have any music fan who loves their Rock hard, heavy and classy smiling like a loon from the first note heard, right until the final one fades away.
If your a Hughes fan or have a hankering for a full on blues/rock album that pulls out all the stops, then Californai Breed is an album that you'll want to get your hands on and soon. A winner from a man who just keep's on getting better with each passing year, good on yer Mr Hughes.
