Thanks Berny!

I can be a bit overly defensive and protective when it comes to melodic rock and especially how it's percieved and it's listeners are stereotyped.

Melodic rock is seen by and large as a JOKE, frivolus pop crap listened to by nerds and 'gay boys'.....and when media type's emphasis or solidfy this mindset it pisses me right off cause it's not true.

I didn't like Harry's Introduction to his Firefest review and felt it reinforced the frivolus and geek style sterotype many attach to the genre. I especially didn't like his comments regarding Keyboard players - i know i'm alone but does fashion really mean that much? and James Martin sure as shit doesn't fall into the blinkered attitude.

I know Harry wasn't having a dig and he does like Melodic Rock and by and large his Firefest review is very positive. But we have enough people mocking the genre without those within mocking it because thats what the mainstream expects.

Really, is this how our favourite music is perceived by the 'outside' world?

Yep thats the one Berny!

yeah Berny i do feel that many Rock/metal fans and journalists who are not into AOR do look at us in this way. Might me been over sensitive hahaha, but i know many rock fans and journo's who have no respect for the genre at all....and given many reviews i've seen in mainstream press over the years were not looked upon kindly...

also with Kerrang loving Steel Panther and Reckless Love, who they do see as joke bands and don't take serious in the slightest (as if you could!) it only helps confirm what they think of the genre in general!
