I spent a lot of my childhood playing American sports video-games, particularly anything with the letters 'WWE' or 'NHL' slapped across the cover. Through these games I discovered several bands who triggered a series of events I'll never forget. Falling first in love with Three Days Grace, Rise Against, Paramore, and Enter Shikari, my dad sat me down one day and played me Slipknot's Before I Forget. And that was it. I was hooked. My dad and I went to Sonisphere Festival to see Slipknot play in 2011, and there I fell in love with thrash metal through the Big 4 – so much so I have Megadeth's Vic Rattlehead tattooed on me! The rest is history as I discovered rock and metal, falling ever in love with Ronnie James Dio and losing myself in the world of symphonic rock and power metal. I spend the majority of my time either listening to music or writing about it as I'm a radio show host, an academic researcher currently studying an MA in the music industries, and most importantly, a devoted scribe to Fireworks.& Rocktopia. |
