This was the latest pay to stream concert by the newly named Bonham Bullick band

This was the latest pay to stream concert by the newly named Bonham Bullick band as part of the concert series. For many years they were called the Deborah Bonham band. The members are Deborah Bonham (vocals), Peter Bullick (guitar and mandolin), Ian Rowley (bass and mandolin), Gerard Louis (keyboards) and Rich Newman (drums).

The concert was filmed at London's Powerhaus, formerly legendary club Dingwalls, in Camden. There is a new album being released in early 2022 on Quarto Valley Records. The Bonham Bullick album is a departure for Deborah and Peter as the album is a song book of interpretations of some great and obscure songs spanning many decades. The album will have covers of songs from O.V. Wright, Johnnie Taylor, Ann Peebles, Bernard Fowler, Mark Lanegan and others. There are many guests playing on the album, including Andy Stoller (Heart) Marco Giovino (Robert Plant's Band Of Joy), Joe Burt (Freddie Mercury), B.J Cole (pedal steel supremo), John Baggott (Massive Attack) and Paul Brown (Waterboys). It is produced by Deborah Bonham and mixed and mastered by Tim Oliver at Real World studios who was recommended to Deborah by Robert Plant.

The stream had a mixture of songs from the forthcoming album of cover versions alongside some crowd favourite originals from previous albums. Before each song was performed there was an introduction by the band telling an interesting and sometimes amusing story about it. Amongst some of the introductions there was video footage of Deborah's smallholding where she looks after rescued horses, dogs and donkeys.

The band performance was very good. Deborah's vocals were excellent and outstanding on tracks 'I Had A Dream' and 'No Angel'. Peter Bullick lived up to his fame as a Paul Kossoff soundalike. His guitar work on most songs has very typical Kossoff phrasing and the stand out guitar solo for me was on 'No Angel'. The rest of the band lay down some solid rhythms to all the songs and integrate very well with Bonham and Bullick. I won't go into depth on each of the songs that were performed, except to say that this stream provided a great insight into a Bonham-Bullick live concert. The sound quality was very good and the visuals very clear. The stream finished with 'Devil In New Orleans' which is always played at the end of shows and has fantastic harmonica played by John Dominic (Mick Fleetwood Blues Band). It is a great boogie song and it is obvious that the whole band enjoyed playing it.

Deborah, Peter and the band hope to be out on the road promoting the new Bonham-Bullick album. If you have seen them perform before then you will know what all the talk is about. If you haven't seen them then be on the lookout for the band in 2022. You'll be blown away.
